HHS to modernize organ transplant system
The Department of Health and Human Services announced the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network will receive a system overhaul that prioritizes accountability and transparency. For years, the system has been criticized for its handling of organs and long waitlist. About 6,000 Americans, roughly 22 every day, die waiting for an organ transplant.
