Japan: protests against Abe's state funeral

As Japan prepares to say its final farewell to assassinated former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, protesters gather in Tokyo to denounce the government’s decision to hold a state funeral for the former leader. Those against the move say that parliament wasn’t sufficiently consulted for an event that will cost taxpayers 12 million US dollars. Current Prime Minister Kishida – whose government unilaterally approved the state funeral – has had to defend his decision to lawmakers.
