Mark Nelson, founder of the Radiant Energy Group, says the easiest place to add nuclear power is where nuclear powerplants are already running. “America’s nuclear plants were mostly designed to include double the power that eventually got built when plants started getting canceled in the 70s and 80s, after the fear of meltdowns and also the lower load growth than we were expecting,” he explains. “Well, we’re back to boom time, and that means we can actually finish those nuclear plants and execute using the most modern designs we have today.”
