Mike Davis: NY statute requires Judge Merchan’s recusal from Trump case over daughter’s fundraising

Article III Project Founder and President Mike Davis says a New York statute mandating judges to remove themselves from a case if an individual within six-degrees of separation from the judge has a financial interest requires Judge Juan Merchan to recuse himself from former President Donald Trump’s case. “When President Trump raised this issue with Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter Lauren Merchan being a leading Democrat fundraiser and fundraising off of this case, how did Judge Merchan respond? He didn’t recuse like he was supposed to, like he’s required to under New York Statute. He threated Trump and said he would throw Trump in prison if Trump mentions Lauren Merchan’s name going forward,” he says.
