New York becomes first state to ban natural gas stoves in new buildings
New York’s new $229 billion state budget includes a provision banning natural gas stoves and other fossil fuels from new construction. The law will require all-electric heating and cooking in new buildings shorter than seven stories by 2026, with exceptions for large commercial or industrial buildings including hospitals and stores.
