Pentagon closely monitoring threats concerning dirty bomb

The Pentagon is keeping a close watch on developments in Ukraine and says it can detect if a dirty bomb is used. Concerns are growing on whether Russia would resort to using a dirty bomb that would contain radioactive or nuclear material. The Defense Department says it has seen no evidence, so far, that Russia will use this tactic. General Patrick Ryder, Pentagon Spokesman: “We maintain a variety of capabilities, to include technical means that are constantly monitoring for any detonations involving any kind of radioactive or nuclear material, and those capabilities are sophisticated. So, I’m not going to go into specific details of how, when, and where, but needless to say, it’s something that we take very seriously and continue to monitor 24/7.”
