Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) hopes Meta’s plan to replace its fact-checking program with a system like X’s community notes is a permanent change and not a temporary “status quo” switch before President-elect Donald Trump takes office. “I like what X has done. They basically have these community notes and that’s the marketplace of ideas taking place,” he says. “And that’s really what should happen if you believe in the First Amendment.”
