Rep. Davidson discusses main takeaways from House hearing on 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal

Representative Warren Davidson (R-OH) says one of the biggest lessons from the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s hearing on the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal is that the Defense Department needs clearer rules of engagement. “You've got to have clear rules of engagement and you have to be empowering the people on the objective. You can’t relay this up through the Pentagon, to the National Command Authority for some of these kinds of things. They’re consequential, but if you don’t trust the person on the ground to take the shot, you got to get a different person on the ground. And that was clearly broken,” says Rep. Davidson.
