Rep. Mary Miller slams SALT deduction as a ‘handout' for rich donors

Representative Mary Miller (R-IL) says President Donald Trump urged Republican lawmakers during a meeting Tuesday to “drop the SALT issue.” "I'm not exactly sure what he meant, but it's really unfair to the rest of the entire country. It's been at $10,000. Then they're talking about raising it to $30,000. Mike Lawler went on TV and said he wants it to be $100,000. It's basically a handout to the rich donors," she says. SALT is a tax break that allows taxpayers to deduct part or all of their state and local income tax from their federal taxes.
