Rep. Ralph Norman calls for fiscal sanity plan, says next House Speaker must ‘drive a hard bargain’

Representative Ralph Norman (R-SC) says Capitol Hill will never have “fiscal sanity” if Congress doesn’t return to the regular budget process. “Regardless of who the next Speaker is, if it’s Mike Johnson, whoever it is has got to drive a hard bargain with [Democrats],” he says. “To not shut the government down is insanity if we have to give in and basically do what Chuck Schumer, the Democrats, and Pelosi want to do, which is continue to spend and put us further into bankruptcy.”
