Rep. Santos calls federal indictment a ‘witch hunt’
Representative George Santos (R-NY) spoke with the press outside a federal courthouse in Central Islip, New York on Wednesday after pleading not guilty to a 13-count indictment. Though Rep. Santos called the indictment a “witch hunt”, the lawmaker said he will continue to comply with the federal investigation. The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York charged Rep. Santos with seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds, and two counts of making false statements to the House of Representatives.
