Supermoon and Independence Day fireworks share Milwaukee sky

Independence Day fireworks and the first supermoon of the year shared the night sky in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Monday, July 3. Footage recorded by a Milwaukee local shows the city lakefront fireworks alongside the moon.

Local media reported that thousands came to view the fireworks on the eve of Independence Day.

A supermoon occurs when the moon is full while its orbit is the closest to Earth, making the moon look bigger than a standard full moon.

The first supermoon of 2023 reached its peak on the morning of July 3, according to NASA.
