Teacher, bus driver shortages have schools scrambling

As the new school year gets underway, school districts across the country are grappling with teacher and bus driver shortages. Hiring bonuses, lowering certification standards and cutting back on days of instruction -- that's some of what school districts around the country are opting to do in response to a school staff shortage. Experts say thousands of educators are leaving the profession -- a trend that was developing even before the start of the pandemic. Now as families and students return to school some districts are trying to fill the gaps.
