Tensions on the Korean peninsula are escalating as both North and South Korea exchange missiles

South Korean officials say they fired three air-to-surface missiles in response to a series of North Korean missile launches just hours earlier. The South Korean military says it carried out precision strikes targeting the international waters near the area where one of the North Korean missiles struck. From Monday until Wednesday, Pyongyang has launched missiles of various types, including one that landed close to South Korean territorial waters. South Korea issued rare air raid warnings and launched its own missiles in response to the North. It was the first time a ballistic missile had landed near the South's waters since the peninsula was divided in 1945.
