Traffic stop leads to arrest for child abduction: Missing Florida teen found in NC

On July 4th, 2023, Nash County deputies conducted a routine vehicle stop on a white in color 2016 Audi Q5, with Florida plates, northbound on Interstate 95 near the 138 mile marker for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop and asking routine questions of the driver, deputies developed reasonable suspicion to believe that criminal activity was taking place. Consent to search the vehicle was given by the driver, Alejandro Hernandez Vazquez. During the search of the vehicle, two THC Pens were found inside the driver door and center console. Deputies also learned that the 16-year-old passenger was reported missing by the Coral Springs Police Department in Florida just hours prior to the stop. Vazquez was arrested and is facing numerous charges, including child abduction, and was later given a secured bond of half a million dollars.
