Treasury Sec. Yellen extends debt ceiling deadline to June 5
In a letter written to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on Friday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen estimated the new deadline for reaching a deal on the debt ceiling is June 5. Sec. Yellen said her latest guidance was based on the Treasury’s most recent available data and reiterated the urgency for Congress to raise or suspend the debt limit.
