Vancouver opens heating centers as temperatures plummet

Bitter cold gripped the Canadian province of British Columbia on Monday, December 19, prompting the city of Vancouver to open several warming centers.

Footage captured by Kali Musk and posted on Twitter shows thick snow around her home in Vancouver on Sunday evening.

According to Environment Canada, temperatures were forecasted to dip as low as -12 degrees Celsius (10 Fahrenheit) with a wind chill of -17 Celsius (1 Fahrenheit) on Monday afternoon.
