WASHINGTON, DC – On Thursday, May 1st and Friday, May 2nd, The American Border Story (TABS), Just the News, and Real America’s Voice will host the first annual American Border Heroes Awards in Washington, D.C. honoring families who have lost loved ones at the hands of illegal immigrants, and recognizing the strength and sacrifice of those who serve on the front lines to defend our country.
The first annual Border Heroes Awards, a two-day extravaganza, will bring together 21 members of angel families, including the families of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray, as well as policy experts, Administration officials such as Border Czar Tom Homan, members of the House and Senate such as Representative Glenn Grothman, and current and former law enforcement officers for a live discussion on America’s border crisis.
The event, which will also honor “Border Heroes” who have worked tirelessly to secure our border, will air nationally as a special broadcast hosted by John Solomon of Just the News.
The following awards will be presented:
- The Border Defender Award will be presented to Border Czar Tom Homan
- The Messenger Award will be presented to Art Del Cueto, Border Patrol Agent and Spokesperson for the Border Patrol Council
- The Local Law Enforcement Award will be presented to Kieran Donahue, President of the National Sheriffs Association
- The Javier Vega Jr. Award will be presented to border patrol and their families as a whole. This award is named in honor of Javier Vega, a Border Patrol agent killed by an illegal immigrant.
At the event, TABS will also announce a new scholarship fund entitled “The American Border Story Scholarship Fund.” The Fund is named for three victims of the border crisis, Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin, to honor their memory and preserve their legacy.
The scholarship fund will be divided into three separate scholarships:
- The American Border Story’s Laken Riley Scholarship
- Awarded to one recipient who is studying nursing.
- The American Border Story’s Jocelyn Nungaray Scholarship
- Awarded to one recipient who is studying to become a wildlife conservationist or biologist.
- The American Border Story’s Rachel Morin Scholarship
- Awarded to one recipient who is studying to become a law enforcement officer.
