Will there be enough hospital beds for coronavirus pandemic?

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo urged Trump to deploy the Army Corps of Engineers Monday to build hospitals for the growing number of coronavirus patients.
“States, frankly, don’t have the capacity or the power to make up for the federal government,” Cuomo said. He called on U.S. officials to coordinate closings across the country, saying state and local leaders have adopted a “hodgepodge” of different actions.
According to Cuomo, New York hospitals have 53,000 beds, including 3,000 beds in intensive care units. The ICU beds are about 80% occupied, said Cuomo.
He warned that coronavirus patients will end up on gurneys in hospital hallways unless the federal government steps in, and sent an open letter to the Trump administration asking for the Army Corps of Engineers to help New York before hospitals are overrun.
