William Jacobson: Harvard should be concerned with its declining brand value

Cornell University Law Professor William Jacobson says Harvard University’s recent drop in undergraduate applications reflects public sentiment about the Ivy League’s brand. “Let’s face it, the elite schools are brands. They are credential factories, they are credentials that people are willing to pay for,” Jacobson says. “And if the brand gets tarnished, then the credential value goes down.”
