Xi Jinping elected to unprecedented 3rd term as China’s President

A unanimous vote by the National People’s Congress appointed Xi Jinping to a third term as President of China. With this ‘election’, Xi has become the longest serving head of Communist China since it was founded in 1949. The National People’s Congress is political theater meant to mimic legitimacy and political democracy.
