President Biden approves $345 million military aid package to Taiwan as China threats ramp up
Specific details about the aid were not made clear in the memorandum.
A $345 million military aid package to Taiwan, which includes weapons from diminishing U.S. stockpiles, was approved by President Biden as threats from China continue to ramp up.
According to a Friday memorandum, the president directed the drawdown of "$345 million in defense articles and services of the Department of Defense, and military education and training, to provide assistance to Taiwan."
Taiwan thanked the U.S. for the military aid.
"Taiwan and the United States will continue to cooperate closely on security issues to maintain peace, stability, and the status quo across the Taiwan Strait," the self-governing island's defense ministry said in a statement.
Specific details about the aid were not made clear in the memorandum.
The new aid package is in addition to $19 billion in previous arms sales that the United States approved for Taiwan.
This is the tenth such arms sale approved by the Biden administration, according to the Epoch Times.
