The attorney who served as Bolsonaro's communications secretary called the charges part of a "political persecution."
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was indicted for allegedly being involved in a scheme to falsify his COVID-19 vaccination data.
Brazil's Supreme Court released the Federal Police indictment on Tuesday, which alleges that Bolsonaro and 16 others falsified their COVID vaccine records to make it appear that they had received the shot, per The Associated Press.
Fabio Wajngarten, an attorney who previously served as Bolsonaro's communications secretary, called the charges part of a "political persecution," in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
