The Gaza Health Ministry, run by the terrorist organization Hamas, said Monday that the death toll in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 10,000 nearly one month after Hamas invaded Israel, killing more than 1,400 people and taking more than 200 others hostage.

The health agency, which does not distinguish between civilian and terrorist casualties, said at least 10,022 Palestinians have died, according to The Associated Press. That death toll is expected to rise still.

Israel Defense Forces severed northern Gaza from the rest of the territory and exchanged rocket fire with the terrorists as they seek to bring back the hostages and take out Hamas.

Israel has been urging civilians to evacuate northern Gaza for weeks now, but Hamas has been blocking civilians from leaving, with the exception of a few foreign nationals and severely wounded last week who were allowed to cross into Egypt.
