Authorities in Iran have arrested dozens of people accused of sharing sensitive information with Israel, local media reported Sunday, as Israeli and U.S. fighter jets continue conducting strikes on targets inside the country.

In northwestern Iran, the Tasnim News Agency reported that prosecutors ordered the arrest of 20 individuals accused of sending location details about Iranian military and security facilities to Israel.

Authorities detained another 10 people on Sunday in northeastern Iran, which is a region that has seen relatively little direct impact from the recent airstrikes, according to Reuters. 

Some of those arrested are accused of gathering information about sensitive sites and key economic infrastructure, Tasnim reported.

A provincial branch of the intelligence arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the arrests were tied to what it described as efforts by Israel and the United States to undermine Iran during the conflict. According to the statement cited by Tasnim, the countries were allegedly attempting to activate “mercenaries and spies” to fuel unrest inside Iran while military operations continue.
