Thousands of residents in Gaza are protesting Hamas' role in the continuing war with Israel that has left widespread destruction in the Middle East region.

Protesters are opposing the ongoing conflict and specifically blame Gaza's de facto governing body, Hamas, for its role in continuing the war.

Chants include and “Out, out out. Hamas get out,” and "Hamas out."

A protester in the city of Beit Lahiya told members of the press that he is protesting “against the war, against Hamas, and the (Palestinian political) factions, against Israel and against the world’s silence.”

The protests began on March 24, a week after Israel ended a two-month ceasefire and resumed attacks on Gaza.

Hamas has attempted to minimize the protester's opposition to the terrorist group by saying that the protests are only against Israel.

Hamas official Basem Naim said that the protests were being misrepresented by the media in a statement Monday.

The war between the side began when Hamas killed about 1,200 and abducted 251 attendees at an Israeli music festival on October 7, 2023.

The war between Israel and Hamas has resulted in mass displacement in the region and the the Gaza health ministry has reported that the war has resulted in 50,000 deaths.
