Since President Donald Trump announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, three ships have passed through the strait. 

On the first full day of the blockade, Reuters reported, two U.S.-sanctioned ships passed through the strait. A third Iran-linked vessel entered the Gulf of Oman, headed to the Hamriyah port in the United Arab Emirates. 

All three ships were not headed to Iranian ports and therefore aren't covered by the blockade. One of the U.S.-sanctioned ships was carrying methanol and owned by Shanghai Xuanrun Shipping Co Ltd. According to Bloomberg, the ship later turned around in the Gulf. Washington blacklisted the vessel in 2023 after it was accused of helping Tehran evade sanctions. 

The other sanctioned ship was headed to Iraq carrying Russian and Iranian oil.
