Turkey says NATO has shot down an Iranian missile, CBS News reported Wednesday. 

Turkey is a NATO member. The U.S. and Israel began air strikes on Iran on Saturday, and the campaign now appears to a stretched into a naval attack, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth saying the U.S. sank an Iranian vessel in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday.

Top Trump administration officials say the main objectives of the attack are to dismantle Iran's ballistic missile program, ensure Tehran does not develop a nuclear bomb and stop Iran's sponsorship of terror attacks outside of its borders.
