US attributes deaths of soldiers to Islamic Resistance group in Iraq
The three who died were Specialist Breonna Moffett, 23; Sgt. William Rivers, 46; and Specialist Kennedy Sanders, 24.
The White House on Wednesday attributed the drone attack this past weekend that killed three U.S. service member in Jordan to anumbrella group of Iran-backed militias.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that he believes the attack was planned by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, which contains the militant group Kataib Hezbollah, according to the Associated Press.
Officials announced Sunday that an overnight drone attack at a military installation near Jordan's border with Syria killed the service members and injured at least two dozen.
The three who died were Specialist Breonna Moffett, 23; Sgt. William Rivers, 46; and Specialist Kennedy Sanders, 24.
"These service members embodied the very best of our nation: Unwavering in their bravery. Unflinching in their duty. Unbending in their commitment to our country," Biden said after their deaths were announced.
