The U.S. Central Command said Monday that a fourth service member was killed in the war with Iran.

"As of 7:30 am ET, March 2, four U.S. service members have been killed in action," CENTCOM posted on X. "The fourth service member, who was seriously wounded during Iran’s initial attacks, eventually succumbed to their injuries. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing. The identities of the fallen are being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification."

The announcement comes a day after CENTCOM said that three service members were killed and five seriously wounded in the strikes between the U.S. and Iran.

U.S. forces launched joint strikes on Iran with Israel over the weekend, leading to the ongoing hostilities. Despite the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini, Iran's military has managed to conduct counterstrikes, inflicting casualities across the Middle East.
