The U.S. Central Command increased the death toll from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East Monday to six American servicemembers, up from four on Monday morning.

The identities of the service members have not been released so far because the U.S. is waiting until 24-hours after the troops' next-of-kin is notified.

"As of 4 pm ET, March 2, six U.S. service members have been killed in action," CENTCOM said in a post on X. "U.S. forces recently recovered the remains of two previously unaccounted for service members from a facility that was struck during Iran's initial attacks in the region."

The announcement comes a day after CENTCOM said that three service members were killed and five seriously wounded in the strikes between the U.S. and Iran.

U.S. forces launched joint strikes on Iran with Israel over the weekend, leading to the ongoing hostilities. Despite the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini, Iran's military has managed to conduct counterstrikes, inflicting casualties across the Middle East.
