President Donald Trump on Friday toned down his push for Iranians to take over their government from its current regime, which now features a new Supreme Leader, as the U.S. and Israel continue their attacks in the Middle Eastern country.

Trump previously pushed for Iranians to take to the streets in protest of the country's regime and to take over the government when the fighting is done, promising it would be theirs "to take."

The president changed that tone in a radio interview with Fox News host Brian Kilmeade where he admitted that the call could be easier said than done, given Iran's plainclothes militia, the Basij.

Trump said Friday night that the United States Central Command carried out a large bombing raid on Iran's Kharg Island, which is a major oil export hub for the Middle Eastern country.

The operation was part of the United States' Operation Epic Fury, which is a joint operation with Israel that targets Iran. The operation began last month.

Trump said he ordered the bombings, which he described as "one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East," and touted the U.S. military as the "most lethal, powerful, and effective force," in the world.
