“[W]e will not allow guests to be demeaned or for the line of civility to be crossed. Ryan Girdusky will not be welcomed back at our network,” the network said.
CNN has cut ties with conservative commentator Ryan James Girdusky after a heated exchange with Zeteo’s Mehdi Hasan on “NewsNight" on Monday.
During the segement, Hasan and Girdusky were discussing how Hasan has been labeled an anti-semite in the past.
"I'm a supporter of the Palestinians, I'm used to it," Hasan said.
“I hope your beeper doesn’t go off,” Girdusky said during the exchange with Hasan, which was an apparently a reference to Israel's beep attack on Hamas.
Host Abby Phillip said Girdusky's on-air comment was out of line.
“[W]e will not allow guests to be demeaned or for the line of civility to be crossed. Ryan Girdusky will not be welcomed back at our network,” the network said in a statement after the segment.
In response, Gidursky said “apparently you can't go on CNN if you make a joke.”
