The Corporation for Public Broadcasting on Friday announced it would shut down after President Donald Trump signed a rescissions package to claw back funding to the organization.

“Despite the extraordinary efforts of millions of Americans who called, wrote, and petitioned Congress to preserve federal funding for CPB, we now face the difficult reality of closing our operations,” CPB President Patricia Harrison said, according to Politico.

The organization, which oversees NPR and PBS, has long provided funding to local public radio stations and other small media outlets, though Republicans have accused its main subsidiaries of editorial bias.

The exact timeline for its closure remains unclear, though it committed to an "orderly wind-down" of its operations.
