Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel won't air his interview Thursday with Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico, on the ABC broadcast of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!." It will instead be streamed on YouTube. 

Kimmel made the announcement during his monologue Wednesday's episode of his show, explaining that due to "unusual circumstances" related to ABC's ongoing issue with the Federal Communications Commission, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the change had to be made. 

In September 2025, following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, FCC Chair Brendan Carr condemned comments Kimmel made about the killing during one of his monologues. The FCC chair suggested that the FCC could take regulatory action or license reviews for ABC affiliations if Kimmel didn't apologize. 

The network temporarily suspended Kimmel, but following a backlash, he was reinstated. The FCC continued to target ABC, Kimmel's show, as well as other ABC programs. In August, ABC announced it was suing the FCC, claiming First Amendment violations. 

Kimmel explained during his monologue Wednesday he and other late-night show hosts through the years had interviewed political candidates "from Hillary Clinton to Ted Cruz to Donald Trump." 

"I interviewed Donald Trump when he was running for president in 2015, and at that time, when he was the one sitting next to me, he seemed to have no problem with the idea of talk show hosts interviewing candidates," Kimmel said. 

With Trump and the FCC threatening Kimmel and his show, Kimmel said, the interview won't be aired on his show. 

“Out of consideration for our local stations, especially our ABC affiliates in Texas, who would have to deal with this nonsense, my interview tomorrow with [James Talarico] will not air on television. It will be posted on YouTube instead. It will not be on TV," Kimmel said.
