'Reagan' star Dennis Quaid says that Facebook restricted ads for upcoming movie
Facebook had at one point suspended the film's account twice and at one point didn't let the marketing team for the movie promote a post about the movie with Quaid in it.
Dennis Quaid, star of the upcoming "Reagan" movie, said he is shocked by Facebook restricting advertising for the upcoming film about the 40th president of the U.S.
Facebook had at one point suspended the film's account twice and at another point didn't let the marketing team promote a post with Quaid's picture in it, according to Fox News.
Marketers said that Facebook said posts about the Reagan movie mentions "politicians or is about sensitive issues that could influence public opinion, how people vote and may impact the outcome of an election or pending legislation."
Quaid said that the explanation made no sense because former President Ronald Reagan died years ago and isn't running for re-election.
"It seems to be automated that way for some reason," Quaid said during an interview. "No one's responsible for that."
"This happened several times, actually, and we were suspended two days in a row … The last time I heard, Reagan hasn’t been on the ballot in 40 years and not only that, he’s not even eligible to run because he served two terms," he continued.
After the film's production team sent a complaint to Facebook about the targeting of the film, the social media platform said they had made a "mistake."
"Reagan," the movie, will be released nationwide Aug. 30 in theaters.
