President Donald Trump on Thursday confirmed a major trade agreement with the United Kingdom after teasing an announcement the night before.

"The agreement with the United Kingdom is a full and comprehensive one that will cement the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom for many years to come," Trump posted on Truth Social on Thursday morning. "Because of our long time history and allegiance together, it is a great honor to have the United Kingdom as our FIRST announcement. Many other deals, which are in serious stages of negotiation, to follow!"

On Wednesday night, Trump had teased that a "major trade deal" would be announced Thursday morning during a "big news conference."

The United Kingdom dispatched officials across the Atlantic this week.

The president initially did not signal on Wednesday what country had agreed to the trade deal, or what the details of it would be, but his administration has been working on trade deals with 17 out of the United States' 18 biggest trade partners recently.

"Big News Conference tomorrow morning at 10:00 A.M., The Oval Office, concerning a MAJOR TRADE DEAL WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF A BIG, AND HIGHLY RESPECTED, COUNTRY. THE FIRST OF MANY!!!" Trump posted to Truth Social.

The announcement will come the same day that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to meet with Chinese trade officials in Switzerland.
