Tucker Carlson announces new show on Twitter
"Free speech is the main right that you have. Without it, you have no others," he asserted.
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Tuesday announced his plans to launch a new program on Twitter following his departure from the cable network.
Fox News confirmed in late April that the host's "Tucker Carlson Tonight" program had aired its final episode and thanked Carlson for his service to the network. Fox witnessed a marked decline of its ratings in the aftermath.
Carlson, who has remained relatively silent since the incident, posted a video to Twitter announcing his intent to carry on a modified version of his old program on the platform, saying "[s]tarting soon, we'll be bringing a new version of the show we've been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter. We'll bring some other things too which we'll tell you about. But for now we're just grateful to be here."
"Free speech is the main right that you have. Without it, you have no others," he asserted.
"The rule of what you can't say defines everything," he also stated. "You can't have a free society if people aren't allowed to say what they think is true... There aren't many platforms left that allow free speech. The last big one... is Twitter, where we are now."

"Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops," Carlson said, before observing that much of the news that appears on Twitter comes from legacy media outlets that he contends are "thinly disguised propaganda outlets."
"You see it on cable news, you talk about it on Twitter," he continued. "The result may feel like a debate, but actually the gatekeepers are still in charge. We think that's a bad system. We know exactly how it works and we're sick of it."
Speculation over Carlson's future had abounded in the wake of his show's end. Fox has filled the timeslot with rotating hosts, with former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany currently holding the fort.
