Comer invites Hunter Biden, business associates to testify at a public hearing

The hearing, scheduled later this month, is set to cover the evidence the Oversight Committee has uncovered thus far indicating what it alleges is an influence peddling scheme by the Biden family.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Wednesday invited Hunter Biden and three of his key business partners to testify in a public hearing before the panel as part of its ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

The hearing is titled “Influence Peddling: Examining Joe Biden’s Abuse of Public Office” and is scheduled for March 20 at 10:00 AM.

“Evidence obtained in the House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry reveals Joe Biden knew about, participated in, and benefited from his family cashing in on the Biden name. Multiple witnesses have testified Joe Biden allowed his family to sell him as ‘the brand’ around the world to enrich the Biden family,” Comer said in a statement.

“Joe Biden met with nearly all of his son’s foreign business associates; attended dinners with foreign oligarchs who collectively funneled his son millions of dollars; spoke on speakerphone with his son’s foreign associates, telling those who did business with his son to be ‘good to my boy;’ and had coffee with his son’s Chinese business associate. The Bidens’ pay-to-play scheme is corrupt and Americans demand accountability,” he added.

The business associates invited to testify along the first son include Devon Archer, Tony Bobulinski, and Jason Galanis. Each of these former partners of Biden’s have previously testified behind closed doors.

Last week, Hunter Biden appeared before the committee for his own closed door interview where he delivered an opening statement denying his father ever had any involvement or association with his foreign business dealings.

Yet, that claim conflicts with publicly available evidence, his own statements, witness testimony secured by the Oversight Committee, including from those same associates now invited to testify publicly alongside Biden.

“During our deposition and interview phase of the investigation, Hunter Biden confirmed evidence about Joe Biden’s involvement, yet his testimony conflicts with other witnesses’ testimonies. Given the President son’s repeated calls for a public hearing, I fully expect Hunter Biden to appear for a scheduled Oversight Committee hearing on March 20, alongside Biden family business associates,” Comer concluded.

Hunter Biden originally refused to show for a closed door interview, opting instead to demand a public hearing. However, he later reversed course, agreeing to sit for the deposition which took place last week.
