House Oversight Chairman James Comer and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan told Hunter Biden's lawyer Wednesday that if his client fails to appear for his scheduled deposition, he will face contempt of Congress.

The Oversight Committee issued a subpoena on November 8 for Hunter Biden to appear before the committee for a deposition on December 13. Hunter Biden's lawyer Abbe Lowell responded to the subpoena, writing a letter to the committee late last month demanding a public hearing, rather than a closed door deposition.

In a post to X announcing the threat of contempt, Chairman Comer said that the "President’s son doesn’t get to dictate the terms of a lawful subpoena."

The new development was catalyzed by a letter from Hunter Biden's attorney on Wednesday, saying that Hunter Biden would refuse to appear for a deposition if it was not public, Fox News reported
