Prominent investigative journalist warns House GOP to focus on Biden profiting off son's dealings
You have to ask yourself, "What did they get in exchange for those funds?" Schweizer asked.
Well-known investigative journalist and president of the Government Accountability Institute Peter Schweizer says that if incoming House Republicans plan to investigate Hunter Biden and his overseas business dealings, they should focus on how President Biden benefited from it.
The GOP is set to take the House back next month and one of the big issues that incoming House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has said that he wants to investigate is Hunter Biden's foreign business deals that may have benefited his family.
"I think that Joe Biden's family benefited enormously from these deals," Schweizer said on the John Solomon Reports podcast. "When you look at the deals that Hunter Biden got from China or Ukraine, he provided no discernible legitimate service for those funds."
"You have to ask yourself, 'What did they get in exchange for those funds?'" he continued. "I think that's what this investigation needs to be focused on."
Schweizer said that there are some questions that need to be answered regarding the large sums of money Hunter Biden got from China and Ukraine when his father was vice president.
"If you look at the deals that they got in Ukraine and you look at the deals they got in China, they correspond almost completely with when Joe Biden was given that portfolio as vice president," Schweizer explained. "In other words, there was a very specific time when Barack Obama said publicly that Joe Biden is responsible for our pivot to Asia and for our policy towards China."
Schweizer noted that timing is the key factor in this upcoming investigation.
"Literally within a couple of months, Hunter Biden lands his first big deal he gets in China, which is the BHR private equity fund," he continued. "Same thing in Ukraine. So that I think the timing is key in all of this. It demonstrates precisely what is going on."
