4.8 Magnitude earthquake hits New Jersey, felt across the Northeast

The earthquake occurred around roughly 10:26 a.m.

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit New Jersey on Friday and was felt across the Northeast, including as far away as Wilmington, Delaware according to news reports. 

According to the U.S Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at 10:23 a.m. ET, north of Trenton and about 46 miles west of New York City.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul wrote on the social media platform, X that her team will be accessing the impact of what happened and will update the public throughout the day.  

As of roughly 11 a.m., there were no reports of injuries or damage.
