Biden saying 'God save the queen' in speech about gun safety sparks confusion
The comment resulted in "God Save The queen" trending on Twitter.
President Biden caused some confusion, and some social media teasing, after saying "God save the queen, man," during a speech Friday in Connecticut about gun safety.
Biden closed with the remark during the speech at the University of Hartford among gun-safety advocates and gun-violence survivors.
The ambiguous comment, which as of Saturday neither Biden nor the White House appeared to have clarified, has resulted in "God Save The Queen" trending on Twitter.
Some people were questioning whether he was referring to the late British monarch Queen Elizabeth who passed away last year.
"A lot of you are tired. You're tired. No, I get it. Try being 110 and doing it again," the 80-year-old Biden also said during his speech, according to USA Today. "Whether you're Democrat or Republican, we all want families to be safe. We all want to drop them off at a house of worship, a mall, a movie, a school door without worrying that's the last time we'll ever see them."
