The military of Friday identified the five marines killed in the helicopter crash earlier this week in mountains east of San Diego.

They were Lance Cpl. Donovan Davis, 21, Capt. Benjamin Moulton, 27, Capt. Jack Casey, 26, Sgt. Alec Langen, 23,  and Capt. Miguel Nava, 28, according to NBC News.

The helicopter they were flying in went missing and was found outside of San Diego on Wednesday.

The Marines were flying a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter from Creech Air Force Base in Clark County, Nev., to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, Calif., on Tuesday when it was reported overdue, the U.S. Marine Corps said.

Rescue crews had said that the snowy weather made getting access to the aircraft difficult.

As of now it is unclear what caused the crash, but an investigation is still ongoing.
