Bobby Charles, former assistant secretary of state at the U.S State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, said that Democrats have corrupted their own brand when it comes to seeking out the truth.

"When people begin to see that the new norm is untruth and hysteria and government control, and essentially demonizing your political opponents, the next time that happens, their level of doubt is considerably higher," Charles said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "What's happened is and it's really remarkable from a sociological point of view is the Democrats have destroyed their own brand."

Charles added that average, everyday people are starting to expect reports from the government to come out as false later down the line.

"What they've done is they've created the expectation that, and of course, there are people who, you know, live and breathe CNN, or some of these leftist outlets as if they're a religion, but except for those people– people ... really do evaluate their day to day life based on as close as they can get to real facts. What you end up seeing is people are now expecting to find the next thing that gets said may well be untrue, the moment it's said," stated Charles.

Politicization of federal agencies and mistrust of the media have been major topics over the past few years.

House Republicans have been leading an investigation into the Biden family regarding its business dealings and the alleged weaponization of the federal government against political rivals.
