Gov. Kathy Hochul left slain NYPD Officer Diller’s wake early: report

New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul reportedly left the wake of New York Police Department Officer Jonathan Diller shortly after arriving on Friday, according to reports. 

Diller was fatally shot during a traffic stop earlier this week in Queens. He is survived by his wife and 1-year-old son.

His wake took place on Thursday and Friday in Massapequa on Long Island, New York.

According to Fox News, video footage showed Hochul speaking with a man outside the Massapequa Funeral Home before turning around and leaving. People reportedly clapped after her departure.

Hochul's actions took place shortly after the NYPD's Sergeants Benevolent Association President Vincent Vallelong wrote in a letter to union members that some politicians might attend for a photo-op.

"Their presence is more than a distraction," Vallelong wrote in the letter, according to Fox. "It is a stain on the legacy of a true hero who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the scores of dedicated and committed public servants who will carry on his mission despite their constant criticism, cynicism, negativity, and frivolous accusations."  

Former President Donald Trump attended Diller's wake on Thursday after being invited by the family.
