Major League Baseball team owners reportedly on Thursday unanimously approved the Oakland Athletics’ move to Las Vegas.

The move, if completed, would mark the first time since 2005 the a MLB team has relocated, according to the Associated Press.

The vote and the relocation was also endorsed by baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred.

Athletics ownership wanted to move, in large part, because it wanted a replacement for the Oakland Coliseum and the inability to gain government assistance for a new ballpark in the Bay area.

The move of Las Vegas would include a stadium to be built on Nevada's city's famous casino-hotel strip, with $380 million in already approved public financing, the wire service also reports.
