Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said Wednesday night during the GOP presidential primary debate that candidate and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley would start World War III if elected president in 2024.

"Nikki Haley is the worst candidate on the stage," Greene wrote on X, the platform previously called Twitter. "She would start WW3 on day one."

The Republican Party has been split on how the United States should approach the war in Ukraine, with some elected officials saying the U.S. should stay out of it and others saying it needs to play a more active role.

Haley has said in the past that it would be backwards to ignore the war in Ukraine, saying it would only empower China.

In a Wall Street Journal Op-Ed published earlier this year, Haley alleged that the Biden administration “has given Ukraine only enough to slow the Russian advance, not to repel it” and added that “more surprising is the weakness from some on the right.”

“They say the U.S. shouldn’t care about Ukraine because this war isn’t our fight. Some call it a mere ‘territorial dispute.’ They say we should ignore Ukraine so we can focus on China. This has it backward. China loses if Ukraine wins,” Haley wrote.

Greene has been one of the Republicans opposed to intervening in Ukraine.

"Democrats, RINOs (losers like Mitt Romney) and the media will hate me for saying this...but America's border is more important to Americans than Ukraine's borders," she wrote on social media earlier this year.
