Mike Pence calls for AG Garland to publicly explain the Trump indictment to the American people
In a prior interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Pence said he was "deeply troubled" by the indictment.
Former Vice President Mike Pence called on U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland Saturday to explain the indictment of former President Trump to the American people.
“Today, I’m calling on the attorney general to stand before the American people and explain why this was necessary in his words," Pence said during a speech at a North Carolina GOP Convention.
"Attorney General Merrick Garland, stop hiding behind the special counsel and stand before the American people and explain why this indictment went forward," he continued.
Pence referred to the indictment as "unprecedented," according to The Hill.
In a prior interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Pence said he was "deeply troubled" by the indictment.
Trump is facing a total of 37 felony counts, including conspiracy to obstruct and destruction and falsification of records.
He announced the indictment on Thursday, calling it a "dark day" in American history.
