Team USA wins its first medal, in diving, in Paris 2024 Summer Olympics

United States divers Kassidy Cook and Sarah Bacon won the first medal for their country in the 2024 Paris Olympics. 

The girls took home the silver medal during the 3-meter synchronized springboard competition, making it the first time the U.S. has medaled in the event since 2012.

This is also the first medal both girls have won.

The event was held at the Aquatics Center in Saint-Denis, which is north of Paris. 

Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen from China took home the gold medal while Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper of Great Britain got the bronze, according to NPR.
