Acting Attorney General Todd Blanched announced an order Sunday that formally rescinds President Donald Trump's $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization fund," which was intended to provide relief for those who claim they were unfairly targeted by the federal government. 

The order will end a weeks-long standoff with senators who were threatening to block Blanche's confirmation for the permanent position as head of the Justice Department unless it was put in writing that the fund was dead. The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday is set to vote on his nomination. 

"My team and I have met with committee members and Senators over the past several weeks and addressed any concerns or outstanding questions. We have enjoyed good faith discussions, and as a result issue the following order and update with regard to the May IRS settlement," Blanche said in a post on X. 

The order that Blanche attached to the post states that the fund shall have no force or effect. 

“This order establishes, beyond any doubt, that there is no fund,” the order read.
